Anti-Government protests 2018

Antananarivo, Madagascar

In April 2018, political protests erupted across Antananarivo, Madagascar, in response to a series of new election laws, preventing the main opposition party from participating in the island nation's upcoming elections. Tensions were high as thousands of protestors clashed with police forces for the first time since 2009, when Marc Ravalomanana, now the leader of the opposition party in question, was forcibly removed from power.
